The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the lofty roof. 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
