The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
