Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
