The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
