Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
