The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
