He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he fears, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
