The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
