The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the people of the right hand 38
