The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 The closing night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
