The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
