Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 Which scatter clouds to their destined places, 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 To cut off all excuses or to warn; 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what day has the term [of all this] been set? 12 To the Day of Decision. 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients 16 Then did We follow them up with later ones. 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 19 Did We not create you of a mean water, 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 For a known calculated term. 22 Thus did We Plan and how excellent is Our planning! 23 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 for the living and the dead, 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 Walk on to that which you called a lie. 29 "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 it indeed throws up sparks like castles, 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it), 35 neither be given leave, and excuse themselves. 36 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 37 That will be the Day of Reckoning. Gathered will be (you) and the earlier (generations). 38 So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it. 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40
