The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; 1 Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- 2 their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' 3 Say: "My Sustainer knows whatever is spoken in heaven and on earth; and He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing." 4 Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). 5 There is not a township before them which did not believe which We have not destroyed; so will they believe? 6 And We did not send before you any but men to whom We sent revelation, so ask the followers of the reminder if you do not 7 Nor did We give them bodies that ate no food, nor were they exempt from death. 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
