۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
