AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 And placed it before them.. he said, "Will ye not eat?" 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!" 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
