Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 Keep watch all the night except some, 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 And leave them to Me these wealthy deniers and give them some respite. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
