He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and purified. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man look at his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyous 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
