And a sign to them is the dead earth: We give life to it and bring forth from it grain so they eat of it. 33 and [how] We make gardens of date-palms and vines [grow] thereon, and cause springs to gush [forth] within it, 34 that they might eat of its fruits and their hands' labour. What, will they not be thankful? 35 Limitless in His glory is He who has created opposites in whatever the earth produces, and in men's own selves, and in that of which [as yet] they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runneth to its appointed term: that is the disposition of the Mighty, the Knowing. 38 And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden ship, 41 And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride. 42 We could have drowned them if We pleased, and none would have answered their cry for help, nor would they have been saved, 43 unless it be a mercy from us, and as an enjoyment for a season. 44 When it is said unto them: Beware of that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy (they are heedless). 45 And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away. 46 And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error." 47 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 48 The Truth is that they are waiting for nothing but a mighty Blast to seize them the while they are disputing (in their worldly affairs), 49 Then they would not be able to make a will, or go back to their people. 50
