The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
