The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 near to flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
