Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven shall be cleft, 1 the stars are dispersed, 2 and when the seas burst beyond their bounds, 3 And when the graves are overturned. 4 A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind. 5 O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous, 6 who has created thee, and formed thee in accordance with what thou art meant' to be, and shaped thy nature in just proportions, 7 In whatever form He willed, He put you together. 8 Nay! but you give the lie to the judgment day, 9 Yet over you there are watchers, 10 Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds). 11 who know whatever you do. 12 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 13 And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire, 14 They shall enter it on the day of judgment. 15 and which they shall not [be able to] evade. 16 And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? 17 Again, what could let you know what the Day of Recompense is! 18 It will be a Day when no human being shall be of the least avail to any other human being, God [alone] will hold command on that Day. 19
