The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
