Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
