The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
