The men of the Thicket cried lies to the Envoys 176 Shu'aib said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no reward for this. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who give less (than the due). 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 They said: "You are only one of those bewitched! 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
