The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
