The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
