The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 a written record, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
