And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]? 35 ۞ How far-fetched what you are promised; 36 "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 He answered: "A short while, and they shall be repenting." 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, that they may be guided. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
