Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 Half of it, or lessen it a little, 3 or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
