When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 "Did we not restrain you," they said, "from (entertaining) creatures from the outside world?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
