The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reckoning for mankind is drawing near, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, 2 In sport being their hearts. And those who do wrong keep secret their private discourse this is but a human being like unto yourselves; will ye then betake yourselves to magic while ye know? 3 He said: My Lord knows what is spoken in the heaven and the earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 4 They have said, "It, (the Quran), is only the result of some confused dreams. He is only a poet. He should show us some miracles, as the ancient Prophets had done." 5 The people of the town whom We had destroyed also had no faith. Will these people then believe in God? 6 Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. 7 We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. 8 Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin). 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
