HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 the nation of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Me' 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 I feel nervous and my tongue is not fluent, so send Aaron with me. 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 (Pharaoh) said (unto Moses): Did we not rear thee among us as a child? And thou didst dwell many years of thy life among us, 18 And thou didst the deed thou didst, being one of the ungrateful!' 19 He said: I did it then when I was mistaken. 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 He said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between, if ye seek to be convinced. 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 Said [Pharaoh]: "Indeed, if thou choose to worship any deity other than me, I shall most certainly throw thee into prison! 29 Musa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, 32 And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. 33
