The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 unto a mighty day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a written book, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
