The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
