The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
