The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I do not (need to) swear by this town (Mecca) 1 And you are free to live upon it, -- 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He says, "I have spent enormous wealth." 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and a pair of lips? 9 and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? 10 But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. 11 And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 the giving of food upon the day of hunger 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or to the poor man lying in the dust. 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 Those who do so are the people of the right hand, 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
