The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 And who glide with ease. 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
