Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say thou: it hath been revealed unto me that a company of the jinn listened, and said, verily we have listened to a Recitation wondrous. 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 He -- exalted be our Lord's majesty! has not taken to Himself either consort or a son. 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. 11 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. 13 And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: 14 but those who are wrongdoers will become the fuel of Hell." 15 If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 And the mosques are for Allah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allah. 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
