Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 Which scatter clouds to their destined places, 3 And by the Verses (of the Quran) that separate the right from the wrong. 4 And then by those that instil Remembrance into the hearts. 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 So when the stars are put out, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 and when the Messengers' time is set, 11 For what Day are these signs postponed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what do you know, what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 And We shall let them be followed by those of later times: 17 Thus do We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you of a mean fluid, 20 Then We placed it in a secure resting-place, 21 for a term pre-ordained? 22 We determined, how excellent a Determiner are We! 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 The living and the dead, 26 Set We not therein soaring mountains? Sated you with sweetest water? 27 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 So like golden camels." 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 On that Day they will be speechless, 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it. 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
