And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And all the armies of Satan. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 "So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
