Seest thou one who turns back, 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 That He hath promised a Second Creation (Raising of the Dead); 47 And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property. 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 So fall you down in prostration to Allah, and worship Him (Alone). ۩ 62
