The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 purify your garments; 4 And pollution shun. 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
