He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
