And indeed, We delivered the children of Israel from the shameful suffering 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 These people say, 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,- 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 42
