Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 and Thamood, sparing no one, 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 And you are lost in play! 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
