The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a great day 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, "Stories of earlier men!" 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A written record, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, "Indeed they have gone astray." 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
