The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
