Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 Upon your heart that you may be of the warners 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 So it will come upon them suddenly, whilst they will be unaware. 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Do you not see that even if We give them respite for years 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 And We destroyed no township but it had its warners 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn your tribe (O Muhammad SAW) of near kindred. 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
