Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Should We have withdrawn the Reminder from you as you are a people who exceed the bounds? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will answer: "The Mighty and All-knowing created them," 9 He who made the earth a bed for you, and laid out tracks upon it so that you may find the way; 10 And (it is He), who sends down water from the sky in its measure thereby We revive the land that was dead, as such you shall be brought forth. 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
